SCOTLAND COACH Andy Robinson will meet with Scottish Rugby Union chief Mark Dodson for an ‘informal chat’ today.
The Englishman’s team failed to win a match in the Six Nations and a rift between he and some players has emerged. Under Robinson, Scotland have won just two of 15 matches in Six Nations and missed out on the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals for the first time in New Zealand last year.
Reports suggest Robinson, who is contracted with the SRU until the end of the 2015 World Cup, will need to tell Dodson whether he wants to continue as coach when they meet at Murrayfield. After a 13-6 loss to Italy on March 17, Robinson said he would review his side’s Six Nations performance before meeting with Dodson.
A report of a training ground rift between Robinson and some Scotland players before that match does not bode well for the coach. If Robinson believes he is the man to lead Scotland, Dodson is likely to take several weeks before announcing whether he will keep the 47-year-old on as coach.
But having reshuffled his coaching staff to bring in Australians Scott Johnson and Matt Taylor for the tour of Australia, Fiji and Samoa, Robinson is likely to want to stay on at the helm.
