Shamrock Rovers' Sheppard named in Irish Under-21 squad

Sligo’s Aaron Greene has also been included for the team’s encounter with Liechtenstein on Monday.

SHAMROCK ROVERS STRIKER Karl Sheppard is among the names included in Noel King’s Irish Under-21 squad.

The side take on Liechtenstein on Monday at The Showgrounds in Sligo at 7.30pm, and King has kept faith with most of the players who beat the same opposition 4-1 in Eschen recently, courtesy of a James Collins hat-trick and a goal from Everton’s Shane Duffy.

Sheppard’s call-up is the culmination of a terrific past few weeks for the youngster, who has caught the eye in Rovers’ Europa League campaign, in addition to winning the Airtricity League Player of the Month accolade for October.

Sligo’s Aaron Greene is the only other Irish-based player to feature in the squad, who have won two of their last three games in Group Seven.

Tickets for the game are available at the Sligo Rovers offices at The Showgrounds, and are priced at €5 for adults and €2 for children.
