Snooker wrap: Carter secures comfortable victory

Meanwhile, Mark Williams also advanced to the second round, thanks to a victory over Liu Chuang.

WORLD NUMBER 17, Ali Carter, secured a comfortable 10-2 victory over Mark Davis at the World Snooker Championships in the Crucible today.

Carter, who finished runner-up in the competition in 2008, led 8-1 after the first session, and continued his dominant form thereafter.

And while Davis managed to win one more frame, his opponent soon wrapped up the match with a 132.

Carter will now meet the highly fancied Judd Trump in the second round.

Joining Cater in the second round will be Mark Williams, who beat China’s Liu Chuang 10-6 earlier today.

Meanwhile, the tournament’s second round encounters are underway with Stephen Maguire currently 5-3 up against Joe Perry, and Neil Robertson beating David Gilbert by the same score.
