Warburton is gone 'til November as hamstring injury won't go away

The Welsh captain picked up the injury playing for the British and Irish Lions.

SAM WARBURTON IS a doubt for Wales’ November internationals with a hamstring injury picked up playing for the British and Irish Lions.

The Wales captain injured his left hamstring during the Lions’ second Test with Australia and after scans it has been announced that he will be ruled out for 12 to 16 weeks as he recovers.

Results showed that Warburton, 24, sustained a grade three tear of his left hamstring in Sydney.

He will now miss the start of Cardiff Blues’ season and will be a major doubt for Wales’ matches with South Africa, Argentina and Australia.

Cardiff Blues head of medical John Miles told the club’s website: “Sam suffered a grade three tear to his left hamstring.

“He has had a scan with specialists in London on Thursday which has shown the injury is already healing.

“He, therefore, does not need surgery but will require a period of rehabilitation between 12 to 16 weeks from the date of the injury.”
