WWE campaign raises $1m to fight breast cancer

A cheque was presented to Susan G. Komen for the Cure on Monday Night Raw last night.

A WWE CAMPAIGN to support the fight against breast cancer has raised $1 million.

Wrestling superstar John Cena took a break from the ring last night to present a cheque to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world’s largest nonprofit funder of breast cancer research and community outreach programs.

The money was raised during a month-long campaign during October in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Approximately five million women per week watch WWE’s progammes, the company said.

More than 100 breast cancer survivors, co-survivors and representatives were in attendance for the presentation, made live on Monday Night Raw last night.

“Women everywhere will benefit from this extraordinary partnership, which has helped to reach millions of people, while raising funds for Komen’s cutting-edge global research program,” said Dorothy Jones, vice president of marketing for Susan G. Komen.

“We are so grateful for WWE, and especially to John Cena and the WWE Superstars and Divas, for their enthusiastic support and friendship.”
