Mayo football in crisis as players revolt against managers Connelly and Holmes - reports

Mayo county officials yet to issue statement following reported vote of no confidence.

MAYO FOOTBALL HAS been plunged into crisis following reports that senior county players have given a vote of no confidence in managers Noel Connelly and Pat Holmes.

The Mayo News and Connaught Telegraph are both reporting serious unrest following Connelly and Holmes’ first season in charge, which ended in defeat to Dublin in the All-Ireland semi-final replay.

It is reported that a vote was taken at Breaffy GAA club 10 days ago at which a majority of the players passed the motion.

Captain Keith Higgins and vice captain Cillian O’Connor then met with Connelly and Holmes on Sunday to inform them of the decision.

Mayo county officials have yet to issue a statement on the reports, although the county board is expected to convene an emergency meeting later this week.
