Springboks make two changes for second Test against Schmidt's Ireland

Elton Jantjies starts at out-half, while Pieter-Steph du Toit comes into the second row.

ALLISTER COETZEE HAS made two changes to his South Africa XV ahead of Saturday’s second Test against Ireland in Johannesburg [KO 4pm Irish time, Sky Sports 1].

Lions playmaker Elton Jantjies starts at out-half in place of Pat Lambie, who was injured in the incident that saw CJ Stander red-carded and subsequently banned.

In the second row, Pieter-Steph du Toit replaces the injured Lood de Jager.

Both Jantjies and du Toit played off the bench in last weekend’s 26-20 defeat to Ireland in Cape Town, with the second row scoring a try after intercepting a Paddy Jackson pass.

Meanwhile, Coetzee has brought experienced out-half Morné Steyn onto the Boks bench, having initially left the Stade Français man out of his squad for the June Tests.

Lions wing Ruan Combrinck and lock Franco Mostert, who have both been in excellent form in Super Rugby, could make their Test debuts after also being included on the South African bench.

Otherwise, Coetzee is backing the same players as last weekend to produce a reaction to their first-ever defeat to Ireland on home soil and bring themselves back into this series.

Joe Schmidt is set to name his Ireland team for the second Test at 1.15pm Irish time.
