Chelsea 6-0 Arsenal

Good afternoon and welcome to another huge day of Premier League football.

18 years on from arriving in England’s top flight, Arsene Wenger takes charge of his 1,000th game as Arsenal boss. They make the short trip to Stamford Bridge for the meeting of first and fourth in the table.

The teams are in:

Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta, Matic, David Luiz; Schurrle, Oscar, Hazard, Eto’o. Subs: Schwarzer, Kalas, Mikel, Lampard, Salah, Ba, Torres.

Arsenal: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Arteta, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Cazorla, Podolski, Giroud. Subs: Fabianski, Vermaelen, Jenkinson, Flamini, Kallstrom, Sanogo, Gnabry.

So Mourinho opts for David Luiz in midfield alongside Nemanja Matic with Andre Schurrle returning in an attack which also features Oscar, Eden Hazard and Samuel Eto’o. Fernando Torres, who turned 30 this week, is on the bench.

Wenger, meanwhile, names the same team which overcame Spurs last Sunday meaning Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain keeps his place. January signing Kim Kallstrom is on the bench.

Table toppers Chelsea hold a four-point advantage over Arsenal going into this one, although the Gunners have a game in-hand.

When the sides met last back in December, it ended in a 0-0 draw.

Still a half hour to go, which means you’ve got plenty of time to read previews to all this weekend’s Premier League fixtures here.

BT Sport have presented Wenger with a bottle of champers but the Frenchman is playing down the significance of the milestone.

“I’m focused on today’s game,” he says. “I always have for the 999 games before this. It’s a massive game for us.”

Five minutes to go. You’ve got to feel for this unlucky fan…

Samuel Eto’o very nearly latches onto a through ball from the right after Koscielny gives away possession but Szczesny is out fast to deny the striker.

GOAL! Chelsea 1-0 Arsenal (Samuel Eto’o)

We’re less than five minutes in and the Blues are ahead. Chelsea break with Schurrle, who finds Eto’o. The Cameroonian steps inside Oxlade-Chamberlain and curls the ball home with his left foot.

GOAL! Chelsea 2-0 Arsenal (Andre Schurrle)

Good grief… more wayward passes (this time from Rosicky) gifts Matic possession before Schurrle drills past Szczesny.

Eto’o has been replaced by Fernando Torres after pulling up with an injury. A goal in nine minutes, not bad!

RED CARD TO KIERAN GIBBS AND PENALTY TO CHELSEA!

This game is utter madness. Hazard shoots and Oxlade-Chamberlain throws his hand up to block the ball.

Referee Andre Marriner points to the spot… but sends the wrong player off! I’m speechless.

GOAL! Chelsea 3-0 Arsenal (Eden Hazard)

After a lengthy stoppage, the Belgian converts from the spot.

Lukas Podolski is the next player to withdraw early with a problem as Thomas Vermaelen is introduced by an understandably upset looking Arsene Wenger.

3-0 down with 10 men… where do the Gunners go from here?

Here’s that contentious incident for those of you who haven’t seen it:

GOAL! Chelsea 4-0 Arsenal (Oscar)

Wow, this is getting really embarrassing for Wenger and his side. Schurrle plays in Torres, he attacks down the right before putting it on a plate for Oscar. It’s not even half-time!

Arsenal create a rare chance with Cazorla feeding Giroud but he can only smash an effort into the side netting.

45 minutes are up but we’ll have an additional three.

Half-time: Chelsea 4-0 Arsenal

Check out the opening goal:

The second half has just stated and Oxlade-Chamberlain is off. Not sent off but substituted for Mathieu Flamini. Carl Jenkinson has also been introduced in placed of Laurent Koscielny.

Torres goes by Vermaelen like he’s not there, then Rosicky makes a challenge and Luiz follows up with the strike — which is saved by Szczesny.

Marriner hands Rosicky a yellow card after he midfielder comes through the side of Cesar Azpilicueta with a sliding tackle.

Santi Cazorla gets himself into a promising position but drives a shot wide of Cech’s post.

Torres has looked bright since coming on for Eto’o. The Spaniard holds up the ball well and lays off to Oscar, whose shot seems to be tipped over by Szczesny… but a goal-kick is awarded.

GOAL! Chelsea 5-0 Arsenal (Oscar)

And there’s five. Oscar side-foots from 20 yards and the bounce deceives Szczesny.

GOAL! Chelsea 6-0 Arsenal (Mohamed Salah)

The recent signing from Basel, on as a sub, times his run perfectly and finishes clinically.

You won’t win titles with a record like this:

A day to forget for Mr Wenger…

Schurrle isn’t too far away with a shot. Credit to Chelsea, who haven’t simply say back on their lead in the second half.

Full-time: Chelsea 6-0 Arsenal

Much of the post-match talk will revolve around Andre Marriner’s mistaken identity but it has been a truly shambolic day for Wenger and Arsenal.

Chelsea, meanwhile, open up a seven-point gap over Liverpool — who are away to Cardiff at 3pm.

Thanks for the company, ’til next time!
