Austin Gleeson and the Deise were in town.

Afternoon all and welcome to Croke Park for today’s coverage of Waterford and Dublin in the Allianz Hurling League. Kevin O’Brien here and I’ll be taking you through all today’s action.

1 min – Pauric Mahony gives the Deise an early lead with a score from the right wing.

Austin Gleeson is dropping out as a third midfielder and he’s being tracked by Shane Barrett. Stephen Bennett and Patrick Curran the two Deise inside forwards.

GOAL! Stephen Bennett hits the net after Pauric Mahony’s free bounces back off the post.

8 mins – Burke fires over a free for the Dubs and Eamon Dillon adds a point from play.

11 mins – Good spell this by Dublin as Chris Crummey sends over a monster point from his own half.

 

Waterford have hit five wides so far and haven’t looked all that comfortable in front of the posts.

14 mins – The Shannonsiders lead by four.

14 mins – Dillon races through unmarked and slots it over. There might have been a goal on but Dillon was happy to take his point. At the far end, Waterford win a close-range free.

15 mins – Mahony sends over the free.

16 mins – Rian McBride with a great catch and score. From the next play Dillon sends the home side two in front.

Dillon is causing real problems for Tadhg be Burca from centre-forward. He’s got three points from play so far.

GOAL! Chris Crummey delivered a long dangerous ball when fell into the path of Donal Burke, who made no mistake from close-range.

23 mins – Another free from Mahony is Waterford’s response. Dublin by far the better team so far and lead by four.

25 mins – Curran is tripped and Mahony strikes over the placed ball. Waterford are a little bit sloppy so far.

25 mins – The home side are three in front after a bright opening.

26 mins – Gleeson slips a pass to his old teacher Kevin Moran, who slots over.

Good play by Gleeson there, opting to pass inside to Kevin Moran rather than shoot from an acute angle.

Waterford 1-7 Dublin 1-9

29 mins – Moran and Gleeson send over a point apiece within seconds of one another. The away side trail by two.

Austin Gleeson is gone down injured after taking a belt to the midriff. The referee is letting a lot go here.

Waterford 1-8 Dublin 1-9

33 mins – Waterford are back to within a point after Mahony’s latest free. Their experience is starting to tell around the middle third.

Offaly 1-13 Limerick 0-12

Offaly lead by four as we approach half-time.

John Fitzgibbon has been sent-off for Limerick in the opening half.

Waterford’s Stephen Daniels has changed jerseys at half-time, he’s now wearing 32 out there.

GOAL! Stephen Bennett rolls the ball into an empty net after Conor Dooley gets caught in possession.

37 mins – Stephen Bennett taps over a point from a tight angle from the next play. Nightmare start to the second-half by the Dubs.

GOAL! Andrew La Touche Cosgrave hits the net for Limerick! That’s 1-1 they’ve scored since half-time.

40 mins – Mahony and Burke trade frees.

43 mins  - Ryan O’Dwyer races forward and slots over. At the far end Gleeson bombs down the flank and cancels out O’Dwyer’s score.

Caolan Conway is replaced by Cian Boland on the Dublin team.

47 mins – Another free from Burke as Cian Boland makes his return from injury. He’s won two Leinster minor medals in the past. At the far end Shane Bennett is brought down close to goal and Mahony makes no mistake from the free.

Maurice Shanahan enters the fray. He replaces Patrick Curran.

Jamie Barron is replaced by Michael Kearney as Derek McGrath starts to run his bench.

52 mins – Shane Dooley and Oisin Kelly hit the net for the Faithful.

54 mins – Mahony stretches the lead to three with his second score from play.

Cian Mac Gabhann comes in for James Madden on the Dublin team.

55 mins – Wonderful score in the corner by Stephen Bennett. That was from such a tight angle.

57 mins – Mahony sends over another free as Waterford’s half-back line begins to dominate. Niall McMorrow eases over a good score in response.

65 mins – McBride with another point for Dublin. He’s played well tonight. Then Chris Bennett, who’s not long off the bench, hits a scoreable shot wide.

Jake Dillon comes in for Stephen Bennett.

Waterford are really retreating now and dropping plenty of bodies back.

Limerick still lead Offaly by two with a minute left.
