No one told Fabio Coentrao he was rested for Real Madrid's game at the weekend

The player mistakenly thought he had been picked.

AHEAD OF THEIR Copa Del Ray final, Jose Morinho decided to rest many of Real Madrid’s big stars for their match with Espanyol at the weekend.

However, no one told Fabio Coentrao, with the player taking his place on the bench initially, before being informed by a visibly amused Iker Casillas that he had been left out of the matchday squad entirely.

With the player seemingly unsure as to whether or not the goalkeeper was telling the truth, Coentrao then consulted assistant boss Aitor Karanka, who promptly told him to take his place in the stands.
