THERE WAS A new face in the camp as Ireland returned to training in Malahide this morning.

Goalkeeper Ian Lawlor was surprised with his first senior call-up on Saturday — the same day that he made his debut for Ireland’s U21s.

“Buzzing to have made my U21 debut tonight in Germany and to be told after the game [I've] been called up to the senior squad,” he tweeted.

“Dream come true.”

The 19-year-old Dubliner, who is currently third choice at Premier League champions Manchester City, was in the Aviva Stadium for last night’s defeat against Turkey but did not tog out for the bench.

This morning he was put through his paces by goalkeeping coach Seamus McDonagh alongside Ireland’s number one David Forde.
