Eamonn Fitzmaurice looks to the future as 3 players make first league start against Mayo

Stephen Rochford has made one change to the Mayo side that lost to Monaghan last Saturday.

THREE YOUNGSTERS WILL make their first competitive start for Kerry against Mayo tomorrow evening.

Eamonn Fitzmaurice has named Austin Stacks defender Ronan Shanahan, Na Gaeil midfielder Jack Barry and Templenoe’s Adrian Spillane in the Kingdom’s starting XV against last year’s beaten All-Ireland finalists.

Barry, a minor in 2012, arrived off the bench four minutes into Kerry’s victory in Donegal last Sunday. Shane Enright, who Barry replaced that day, misses out due to return to play protocol after he suffered a concussion.

Spillane was also a minor in 2012 and is the son of Kerry legend Tom. Good form for his club, the Kerry juniors and UCC in the past 12 months has earned Spillane his shot at senior ranks.

Denis Daly of St Marys, who played full-forward in UL’s Sigerson Cup quarter-final win over DIT recently, joins the match day squad.

Meanwhile Mayo boss Stephen Rochford makes just one change to the team that lost to Monaghan last weekend.

Tom Parsons comes in for Danny Kirby, who went off injured with a foot injury. It’s hoped Kirby will recover in time to take his place among the Mayo substitutes.

The game at Austin Stack Park throws it at 7pm.
